OUR ROOTS
Ascesa was born in 2018 from the desire of 4 friends to produce Nebbiolo on the steep terraces of Valtellina, in search of a wine that can combine elegance and character, which refers to the effort of cultivating vineyards in one of the most difficult areas of the entire wine world.
Ascesa is a challenge, cultivating vineyards manually as in Valtellina has always been done, without the help of machines, but with the knowledge that the thousand shades of Chiavennasca (as Nebbiolo in the valley is called) will repay us for all our efforts.
The vineyards we cultivate are small plots of land that are found in areas in Valtellina Superiore DOCG such as Sassella and Grumello, and in the Rosso di Valtellina DOC denomination; the average age of the vines ranges from 25 to 80 years.
